On this site you will find the genealogic research of the Vreeman and Vonkeman Families. My name is Martin Vreeman and about 1975 i wanted to know about my ancestors and started gathering for information. I started my genealogic - familytree - research as by interviewing my family members and relatives. Soon i landed as one of the youngest researchers in the archives of the local and provincial archives. I am searching also the web for information. A great help is the genealogie.page.nl. Lot of links to interesting sites are there. Further the Momones got lots of information on the web also at familysearch.com. Even the provincial government is on the internet, with information about and for genealogic research. All collected data where written down by me. I also got acquainted with computers and its possibillities, so i wrote a special by myself developed programm to put data in. Nowadays not only the archives are the source of information, internet is providing also many data. Because of the complexity of all data, changes in computersystems etc. i started working with the most avanced and professional equipment there is like, scanners, digital photography e-mail and this domain. In the early days people where named after locations, specialities, habbits etc. Leopolt Bonaparte decided, as ruler of the Kingdom Holland, that from 1811 all people in the Kingdom had to accept a name and register at birth, marriage and death at local government. Befor 1811 people only where registrated when they were churchmember, landowners (taxes), military, when they had been in confilct with the law, etc. The familyname Vreeman is supposely situated at the region "op 't Vree", by Oolde (nearby Laren Gelderland) appr. at the year 1700. If this propperty was owned by the family is not certain. The current owner told me the Vreeman-family has lived there till appr. 1900. The name Vreeman could have been a combination of "man from op t' Vree" changed in Vreeman. If you discover
