Huize 't Oolde In 1711 Derk Jan van Keppel van Woolbeke got 't Oolde in posession by uncle Bastiaan. Accoording to familytradition he was a soldeir and militair and big landowner. Brother Johan Rabo van Keppel van Woolbeke got Huize Woolbeke, surrounded by 125 acre land and 150 square decametre (about 48 hectare). Het house was direct near the Verwoldse brook, one half hours walking from Laren Gld, left of the road to Deventer, south of Oolde. The van Keppels owned that time also Huize de Voorst.

Jan op 't Vree lived at approx. 1700 at this location. Because of the french infulence - people had to accept a name - presuably the name "the man from op 't Vree" as Vreeman written in the books. Not everyone could write that time -in the registers was added "declares not being able to write"- so the official of the local government wrote down the name Vreman fonetic. LSO -perhabs because of being untrained or nubillity- registers "lied" about ages. |
